About Tap Watch

Tap Watch answers one question: which pub near me has that beer on?

Why it exists

Pub taps change constantly, and no pub lists them anywhere you can search. So you walk twenty minutes for a pint of something that came off last week, or you stand outside peering at the window hoping to spot a pump clip. Tap Watch is an attempt to fix that for one postcode, properly, rather than for everywhere, badly.

What it covers

Thin but accurate beats long but wrong. A pub with nothing listed simply hasn't been visited yet.

Who keeps it going

One person in Walthamstow, with help from anyone who taps 馃憤 or 馃憥 at the bar, sends a photo of the taps, or submits a beer. Every photo and submission is checked by hand before it appears.

What it costs, and what it's for

Nothing, and nothing. There are no adverts, no sponsorship, no accounts, no tracking and nothing for sale. It runs inside the free tiers of its hosting, which is the whole budget. It isn't a business, and pubs can't pay to appear or to look fresher than they are.

Where it's up to

Early days. The site works, the pub list is real, and the tap lists are being filled in pub by pub. While the banner is up, treat anything you see as a good guess rather than gospel, and check the date beside each beer.

Credit where it's due

Pub names, addresses and positions come from OpenStreetMap. The map is drawn from Protomaps data. Brewery logos belong to the breweries, and are used only to show which beer is which.
